For a long time we tried to turn our life to the side of nature. It was no problems with it in warm season – all weekends we spent in tents – at the seaside and in the forest. But winters became longer and gloomier.
In May of 2006 casual meeting with Egor Pavlov precipitated events sharply. It occurred that there is a village in the world where a lot of old-hat musicians are living and they would be glad to meet us. Name of the village Spivaki (singers - in Ukrainian) add an action. Soon, we went on to find out smth and there and then understood - we would live here.
We started to look for tumbledown building.
It happened in the morning of 2nd day of the August.
I saw forest clearing – a ruined table and forester’s house (of 1948 year construction) in the middle of it.
Present-day owners were going to move promptly and it was in the nick of time.
Notwithstanding the fact that building condition didn’t excite me, I understood it would be just same place, indeed, where my dream about sound recording studio will come true.
Winter of 2006 passed in the city again. Of course, we tried to spend all weekends with the friends, living far from city side. It became clear, that it couldn’t last as it was any more. And, it was our last winter in such routine, and it was time to change not only habitat but way of life.
On summer 2007 we started to bring a little order to the clearing and, when it became clear, that it was all right for living here in winter, we gathered all our money, books and articles by Philip Newell and went on other side of the Earth to check our strengths in the outermost place from Ukraine – Oceania islands.
A fuller picture of our future studio is beginning to emerge in our heads and, in Moscow, on our way to Islands, we held some meetings with Russian acoustic designers.
